Squeezebox

Please be sure you have successfully completed the entire installation and setup process of the Slimdevices Squeezebox. If necessary, please refer to the technical product documentation when defining and using paramters which are available through VASERControl.

For technical information see: Slimdevices Inc.

Creating a new Squeezebox Connection

To create a new connection of type Squeezebox perform the following steps:

Select the entry Connections from the VASERControl Server Active Window Tree View.

Open its pop-up menu and select the option New.

Select the item Squeezebox from the list prompter and press the Ok button.

A new Squeezebox is added to the Connections tree node. If necessary, open the branch beneath the Connections tree node by clicking on the + mini-icon and select the newly created connection.

The Workarea in the right part of the window is updated acordingly and allows you to define the necessary parameters.

Slimserver IP

This paramter defines the IP address of the server computer where the SlimServer software has been installed.

Slimserver Port

Defines the SlimServer port; the default value is 9000.

:!: Please make sure to take your current installation into account and if necessary refer to your SlimServer technical documentation.

Polling

The Polling parameter defines in units of miliseconds how often information is requested from the SqueezeBox Server. The requested information includes the current title, album, artist, and if used the name of the playlist.

Authorization

:!: Please note that the authorization schema is entirely dependent on your current SlimServer configuration.

There are three different options available. For example you may configure your server, such that any connected user must always provide a proper authorization code (24-digit-hexadecimal number).

For further technical information see: Slimdevices Inc.

Add Referer

This parameter is related to the used authorization schema. One of the available options allows you to define IP addresses which may use the SqueezeBox without sending an authorization code with each access. In this case the IP address of the client will be sent with each request. The SlimServer will verify for any request if the request was issued through a previously defined IP address.

State

This paramter is read-only. Possible values are Connected and Disconnected.

Squeezebox Connection Pop-up Menu

If you select an existing Squeezebox connection entry (not the Connection tree node but one of its subentries) you may open a specific pop-up menu.

:!: Please note that this pop-up menu is only available from an existing Squeezebox entry. Other entries from the Connection tree have different pop-up menus.

Connect

This menu option is only available (enabled) when the current Squeezebox connection has not been yet connected to the VASERControl Server.

Disconnect

To disconnect a Squeezebox connection which is currently connected to the VASERControl Server, simply select this menu choice. This menu option is only available (enabled) when the current Squeezebox connection is currently connected.

Available Players...

This menu option provides a list of all currently available SqueezeBoxes.

To add a new SqueezeBox, simply select one of the listed entries and press the OK button.

Delete

Selecting the Delete menu choice the selected Squeezebox connection with all its elements will be deleted. To verify this action a prompter is opened on the screen.

:!: Please note that you may not undo this action; i.e. you will need to re-define all paramters.

Squeezebox Connection Elements

All Squeezebox Connection Elements are listed below the Squeezebox tree node. If necessary, you may open this branch by selecting the + mini-icon in front of the tree note Squeezebox.

When Squeezebox Connection Element is selected the information in the Workarea is updated according to the type of the selected Element.

Click to enlarge The workarea provides push buttons to operate the selected SqueezeBox.
